Travel Between States Not Yet Permitted, Even To Green Zone Area

Interstate travel is still not allowed, even between green areas, according to Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Senior Minister (Security Cluster).

He clarified that this was because the Ministry of Health (MOH) was still ‘sensitive' to cross-state permits, considering the fact that the permission issued in December last year culminated in 32 new Covid-19 clusters.

Currently, (interstate) travel is only accepted through travel agents, since we would know the particulars of the journey. If they use a tour operator, their journey will be reported to the authorities, who will then know where they are going and what they are doing.

Datuk Seri Ismail added that if the government were to allow personal travel, for example, Perak is a green zone, Kedah and Langkawi is a green zone as well. If people from Perak want to go to Langkawi, they must first pass through Penang. How will we be confident they're going to Langkawi?

That's the only reason interstate travel via private vehicle are not allowed yet.

So far, the government allowed travelling in the same state. Why don't you give it a try!
