How To Get Here
From Kuching itself, there is a few options on how to get to Mount Santubong which is via shuttle van, bus or using Grab which will cost you around RM41++ one-way. Do note that that might be a problem getting one on your way back, so it is good to negotiate with your Grab driver to stay and wait for you with additional payment of course.
Another option is you can hop in the public bus that departs from the market in Kuching and heads to Damai or use a tour bus that leaves from most of the major hotels in Kuching. Expect the fee from RM12 per person for one way and you do need to check the schedule with the respected hotels.
What To Do In Santubong?
The Santubong area is one of the best places in Sarawak to see the rare Irrawaddy dolphin, which inhabits rivers, estuaries and shallow coastal areas. On rare occasions finless porpoises and Indo-pacific humpback dolphins are sighted in the waters off Santubong.
Besides, for those who love adventure or wanting more from nature, you may hike the Mount Santubong which sits 810m above the sea level and it takes around 3 hours to reach to the top from the Bukit Puteri Entrance or hike within the Santubong National Park.
Other than that, you may visit the Sarawak Cultural Village. Unique award-winning museums that offer informative introductions to local culture and lifestyles.
