Pristine beaches, hustle and bustle of tourist and the local in Pantai Cenang, and of course duty-free shopping spree always come in the picture when describing Langkawi.
There are 2 options to get to the island, direct flight from Kuala Lumpur airport or any other airport in Malaysia that offers direct flight to Langkawi or by using the ferry from either Kuala Kedah or Kuala Perlis.
Do take note that as you arrive in Langkawi, the public transportation available is a taxi (which will cost you a lot), or you may opt for a cheaper and secure option by using Grab. But if you have a valid driver licence, you may want to consider renting a car or a motorcycle if you travel solo or you don't mind riding in the hot sun of Langkawi or sometimes, rain.
If you have only a day or two to spend, here are some suggested itinerary to enjoy the beauty of the island.
8.00 a.m
Kick-off your morning by having breakfast at Nasi Dagang Pak Malau. Nasi Dagang; is a very popular dish in Terengganu and Kelantan.
This flavorful and fragrant dish of steamed rice in coconut milk normally served with fish or chicken gulai (a spicy curry-like gravy) and pickled cucumber and carrot on the side.
Not only you can indulge the delicious food, you can also enjoy the view of paddy field and Gunung Raya which is the tallest peak of the island.
10.00 A.M

Join a two-and-a-half-hour of Langkawi UNESCO Geopark Mangrove Cruise which will take you along three rivers : Tanjung Rhu, Kisap and Kilim.
Fun Fact : Langkawi was awarded the UNESCO Global Geopark status in 2017 and the first in South-east Asia
Navigate an extraordinary maze of tree roots and mangrove forest created over millennia in the unique Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark formed on 99 islands that make up the legendary Langkawi Archipelago and encounter abundant wildlife, including land-walking fish, vivid kingfishers, eagles, otters, and dolphins.
This delicately balanced ecosystem is responsible for the wide variety of species in the Andaman Sea. Depart the mangrove forest and marvel at the majestic limestone rock formations that rise dramatically from the ocean.
It is recommended you wear a T-shirt, shorts or trousers, and sandals or walking shoes. Bring sunscreen and sun protection too!
The tour will start at the Tanjung Rhu Jetty ( 28km or 40 minutes drive from Cenang Beach).
1.00 P.M
While you are at Tanjung Rhu, how about you have your lunch at the Tanjung Rhu Floating Restaurant and Fish Farm which is about 10 minutes drive from the jetty.
They specialize in seafood and prepare the dishes in Malay or Thai style. You will get items prepared from freshly caught seafood including prawn, crabs, red snappers, groupers, lobsters, sea bass and even squids.
2.00 P.M
After lunch, you might head down to the Underwater World Langkawi to have some fun at the region's biggest freshwater and marine aquariums which houses more than 500 species of sea creatures.
If time permits, you might want to take a detour to Pantai Pasir Hitam. The beach is famous for its unique black sand beach.
4.00 P.M
For the nature lover, you might want to see and take a dip at Telaga Tujuh Waterfall, do bear in mind that you will need to hike for about 45 minutes (and a lot of stairs) to climb.
If you want to take a short dip but looking for an easy option, you can head to Temurun Waterfall. Located in Datai Bay area, Temurun is a three-tier waterfall and the cumulative drop of the falls is about 200 meters. This is said to be the tallest waterfall in Langkawi.
From the car park at the main road, the first tier is only a short distance away (about 5 minutes walk).
One thing to remember... this is a seasonal fall. You will actually enjoy the true gush of the water during the rainy season (September - October). During the other months, if there is a run of continuous dry days, then it's better to avoid it.
6.00 P.M
Head to Pantai Cenang to chill out after a long day of fun-filled activities. You may enjoy the sunset by the beach or from one of the restaurants that lie on the side of the beach.
You can also do some your shopping at the main road in Pantai Cenang, where there will be a lot of shop selling souvenir, restaurants as well as the duty-free mall.
