If you drive through Alor Setar next time, why don't you try to find the new 18 colourful murals that feature the drawings of the old days of Alor Setar and the people daily routine there.
Apparently, Lorong Setar and its surrounding areas here have been transformed into a work of art, featuring 18 murals, named Alor Setar Art Corner. The mural project is part of the state’s RM528,000 rejuvenation project meant to give the city a facelift according to The Star.
The project, which began last July, was to revive the state capital’s glorious past and its rich heritage, and it involved twenty-six artists from three mural painting groups – Warisan Taiping Malaysia, Angkatan Pelukis Kedah and Persatuan Pelukis Alor Setar to carry out the project which scheduled for completion next month.
Among the murals that caught the public’s eye is the one featuring 61-year-old motorcycle foreman Low Kim Tek in the midst of repairing a Honda C50, The ground-breaking ceremony of Terusan Wan Mat Saman in 1879, and more.
So, next time in Alor Setar, make sure you take a few photos of these murals okay?
